Expected Results

In addition to the systematic development of the concepts used and problems under study, which will be discussed in two national workshops (to be conducted in India and in Brazil) during the first phase, we propose to review the conclusions in an other national workshop to be held during the second phase, before a final international conference. Several articles shall be published in English (working language), Portuguese and/or French as well as at least two collective volumes in English (this task will be entrusted to the two specialised groups) together with their French and Portuguese versions. The original maps produced in the course of the project will also be published.

Finally, since our project is aimed at making a comparative study of the situation in the two countries in a wider perspective, focusing particularly on South-South cooperation and interaction, we hope to eventually involve institutional actors in future collaborations and action programmes dealing with cities and social exclusion.
